Buyer Question: My wife and I are looking at the recent BMW 135i. How different is it from last year’s model? If we were to buy one, how much of a discount could we expect to get off the manufacturer’s suggested retail price?
Autos Expert Answer: I own heard about discounts of 4% or so for the 1-Series BMWs, but I imagine you should aim fair lower. I came of age following the “3% over invoice” rule, which worked when I bought my Mazda 14 years ago.
But we are active from one side each especially deep buyer’s mart, in the same state I think you should start negotiating at invoice price and try not to budge more than a couple of hundred dollars.
Remember: Nobody is buying cars today, so the dealer should be happy with even the slimmest of profits.
